Acid Reflux Wedge Pillow – Can Something This Simple Help Me Sleep?

Over 80 million people in the United States currently suffer from acid reflux. It is a serious condition in which the gastric acid flows back from the stomach into the upper intestines and esophagus. It can damage the esophagus and cause extreme pain to the sufferer.

Fortunately, there have been many developments in the treatment of acid reflux. Prescription medications are often able to control the symptoms. However, many people are still suffering at night while lying in bed.

When lying flat, the gastric acid in the stomach flows more easily into the esophagus. This acid doesn’t have to fight with gravity, and this is why the pain is often intensified at night. Doctors recommend sleeping at an incline to help prevent this nighttime pain caused by acid reflux.

Positional therapy, as it is more often known, is used to control the symptoms of acid reflux. When the head and shoulders are elevated, it is more difficult for the acid to reach the esophagus. However, if this incline is not executed properly, additional pain of the lower back may be experienced.

Luckily, there are many products that can help with attaining the correct inclination. The most common is an acid reflux wedge pillow. An acid reflux wedge pillow is designed to position the patient in a way that elevates the head and neck just enough to keep stomach acid down without causing discomfort.

Acid reflux pillows are available in several different materials, shapes, and sizes. Most commonly, foam pillows in wedged shapes are used. They can also be found in soft plastic or inflatable varieties. You can even find acid reflux pillows with allergen barriers for those who suffer from allergies. Look for a pillow that allows for adjustability. You want to be able to customize the pillow for your specific needs.

One of the major benefits of using an acid reflux wedge pillow is that there are no risks or side effects. Prescription medication can often cause unwanted side effects or long-term complications. Although it may be necessary in some cases, if you want to try something else before taking that route, an acid reflux wedge pillow might do the trick.

These special pillows are recommended by doctors around the country. They are a simple solution to a sometimes overwhelming pain. By simply elevating your upper body at the correct angle, you will experience a significant reduction, or even disappearance of acid reflux pain.

Sleeping in a new position may take some getting used to, but the comfort you’ll feel will be worth it. Sleeping through the night at a slight incline certainly seems better than lying flat all night, awake and in pain.

A combination treatment of prescription medication, healthy lifestyle changes, and use of an acid reflux wedge pillow can certainly change your life forever. However, if you continue to experience severe symptoms, even after trying these treatments, contact your doctor immediately. This could be an indication of more serious problems.

Perk Up Your Patio Or Outdoor Decor This Spring

Perk Up Your Patio Or Outdoor Decor This Spring

Spring is here! Blooming gardens, warmer weather, and longer evenings naturally lead all warm-blooded humans outside after being cooped up all winter. Unless of course you reside in California er, Hawaii. (We froze our tails off this winter in CA)

My point is… it’s time to clean up the yard, hose off the patio furniture, and try some of these ideas which focus on the senses, to add some zing to your patio this spring:

Eye Appeal

· To appeal to the eye, start with color. Earth tones are always a great choice for large areas such as walls, flooring or furniture. Greens, desert tans, peach and muted yellows can give your space a relaxed, inviting feel.

· Bring in more visual appeal with bling. No, not diamonds, shiny metals such as chrome, tin, iron or bronze. Try adding an iron plant stand, bronze hanging lamps or tin wall art to complement your overall color palette. Not too much – you want it to remain light and free from clutter.

· Add splashes of brilliant color in blues, purples, pinks and aqua tones. Try throw pillows or seat cushions, a bright woven table runner, or some brightly colored Mexican folk art for a wall.

· Don’t forget the green plants. They add color and oxygen to your environment, and several potted plants in a grouping can add depth to an empty space.

Sounds of Silence

· Hang a beautiful glass wind chime in the sun for a little sparkle and relaxation, or a bamboo chime for some calming spiritual energy.

· Music comes in many varieties and you can use it to create a mood for your outdoor living space. Whether it’s soft music to soothe you, salsa to move you, or rock and roll for a party atmosphere, it’s all up to you.

· A fountain is another way to bring peaceful “music” to your patio or garden area. Available in a myriad of colors, sizes, and shapes, choose a fountain that reflects the style of your outdoor space.

The Nose Knows

· Scent has the power to soothe, to stimulate, even to trigger the memory of something or someone long forgotten. Bring this power of scent to your outdoor living space by planting aromatic flowers or herbs in pots or nearby in beds. You’ll get the extra benefit of more color too.

· Burn scented candles. Not only will they bring pleasure to the nose, they will also add a lovely glow when the sun goes down, and in some cases may even help keep the bugs at bay.

Can’t Touch This

· Texture adds depth and with the choices in fabric and weave, you could add some tactile appeal to your floor or deck with an area rug. Again choose neutrals with a splash of color. This is also a great way to hide drab grey concrete or flaws.

· To help shield your space from harsh afternoon sun, try woven blinds in a variety of materials such as sea grass or bamboo.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to perk up your outdoor living space, and you don’t need to follow any style guidelines. It’s not about perfection, it’s about real life. Make it reflect your style, keep it comfortable and relaxing, and most of all, enjoy it!

An Anti-Snore Pillow Can Cure Your Snoring If You Know This Secret

An Anti-Snore Pillow Can Cure Your Snoring If You Know This Secret

Snoring can keep you and your spouse or roommate from getting a good night’s sleep.  There are several products on the market to help people to stop snoring.  Several of these remedies come in the form of anti-snore pillows.  Typically these pillows keep the body aligned to keep the airway unrestricted and fit standard sized pillow cases.  There are several different pillow styles available which means you are likely to find one the works for you.

The most prevalent cause of snoring is a misalignment of the head, neck and spine which restricts the airways.  The air passing through the restricted airway causes the tissues of the throat to vibrate which is where the sound we call snoring comes from.   Most anti-snore pillows promote proper sleeping position whether you sleep on your side or on your back.  This keeps the airway as unrestricted as possible, which can reduce if not eliminate your snoring.

One version of these pillows is foam and has a lowered center portion with a raised edge along the bottom of the pillow which keeps the jaw forward and the chin raised away from the chest.  Both of these adjustments helps keep the airway as open as possible, reducing the vibrations of the throat tissues and the resulting noise.  This form of anti-snore pillow promotes proper spine alignment for both back and side sleepers.

Other forms of anti-snore pillows have an adjustable air bladder in the center.  The sides are a firmer material.  The idea is to encourage the individual to sleep on their side, which tends to reduce instances of snoring dramatically, if not completely.  The air bladder can be adjusted to find the right firmness for the individual user.  Finding the right level of firmness of the center air panel can align the head, neck, and spine while also encouraging a side sleeping position.

Another form of anti-snore pillow also promotes proper spine alignment, but not by properly positioning the head and neck.  This pillow is designed specifically for side sleepers.  Even though you are more likely to snore less when sleeping on your side, it is still possible.  Angled to fit between the thighs, this pillow encourages proper alignment of the spine by positioning the legs correctly.

There are several different options when it comes to finding an anti-snore pillow that will work for you.

Anti Wrinkle Pillow: Is This the New Miracle Cure For Aging Skin?

Anti Wrinkle Pillow: Is This the New Miracle Cure For Aging Skin?

If you are actually planning or thinking about spending money on botox injections or anti wrinkle creams in order to transform your looks you might actually be better off sleeping on the problem.

Could you can get an anti wrinkle pillow which really irons out creases from your skin while you sleep? Well, manufacturers have indeed begun to develop something that claims to do exactly that. By weaving copper oxide into the fabric that is used to make pillow cases, manufacturers claim that sleeping on their pillows can be just as effective as the best anti wrinkle creams.

The pillows were invented after a textile scientist decided to incorporate copper into fabric due to its wound healing properties. Copper is known to stimulate the production of collagen underneath the skin, which helps with healing as well as promote young looking skin. Pillow cases were also made and tested and reportedly had noteworthy results after four weeks or less. Moisture produced by the skin during sleep is thought to help release copper ions from the pillow.

Copper anti wrinkle pillows feel just like any ordinary pillow. You will not notice any metallic texture and you should sleep just as you would with a normal pillow. You might also want to wear a copper eye mask for that extra effect on the fine lines around your eyes, or copper fabric gloves to stop your hands from telling everyone your age.

So far research has not shown any negative effects from all this copper. But, if you have worries about this, you may choose a different type of anti wrinkle pillow which saves your skin from being creased or wrinkled by your regular pillow. Surely, if you sleep on your back this would not be an issue, but the aim here is to help people who sleep on their sides.

This copper anti wrinkle pillow has a special shape, usually donut or crescent shaped. The head and chin are supported however; there is a hollow under the cheek, so that the sensitive skin in that area is not crushed. This also helps to retain the skin’s natural moisture and oils as rubbing against a cotton pillow can have a very drying effect on the skin.

If you prefer to use your regular pillow, you should consider getting one that is filled with a very soft substance such as feathers as this follows the natural curves of your face better than synthetic stuffing. Remember that some people are allergic to feathers so, you would need to check this out. You may also choose a pillow case that is made from silk rather than cotton to minimize its drying effect.

If you sleep on a standard pillow with cotton case at present, you may want to switch to protect your skin. There is in fact nothing to lose except the initial cost of the pillow, which is not costly. Since you have to sleep on some kind of pillow anyway, why not do your skin a favor by choosing an anti wrinkle pillow?
